The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is the worlds first and largest cancer research organization dedicated to preventing and curing all cancers through research, education, collaboration, communication, and advocacy. The AACR invites professional journalists to submit for the 2019 AACR June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism, which was established to raise awareness of the critical role that the media play in educating the public about cancer and cancer research. The AACR Biedler Prize includes a cash award of $5,000, and is open to print, broadcast, and online journalists whose stories appear in newspapers, magazines, websites, television, and radio that target a lay public audience.

The RIAS Berlin Commission will be holding an annual reunion for all U.S.-based alumni of the 26-year-old U.S.-German exchange program for broadcast journalists on Friday, September 28 and a panel discussion on Saturday, September 29. The RIAS Berlin Commission will also be recruiting applicants for its two standard two-week programs in 2019 in Germany for both broadcast and digital media journalists working for U.S. media outlooks as well as three-week summer exchange program for college students studying broadcast journalism or a related field. The RIAS Berlin Commission covers travel and hotel costs for fellows accepted to the no-strings-attached educational exchange program created solely to help U.S. and German journalists learn more about each others countries.
